Some of my earliest memories go back to when I was a young child watching children’s programming on PBS at my grandmother’s house. I remember learning the alphabet and how to count while watching Sesame Street, how things were made when Mr. Rogers would tour various factories, geography when Carmen Sandiego would travel around the world, science on 3-2-1 Contact, and many more great programs such as The Berenstain Bears, The Big Comfy Couch, Lamb Chop, and The Magic School Bus that were both educational and fun to watch. Many years later my children also had the benefits of experiencing and learning along with PBS just as I did – only with more resources than ever before; while many of the programs have changed over the years, the mission remains the same to Educate, Enlighten, and Entertain.
