This unique and exciting piece is one of a series of houses and structures that are sometimes clustered in unusual configurations to form a larger artistic statement. Some of the pieces in the larger work are upside-down, slanted in odd positions, juxtaposed with roots and trees and in general speak of a topsy-turvy world. They are made of clay slabs that are treated with various stamps and tools to create varied surfaces that are alternately tactile in both rough and smooth ways. This piece has gorgeous turquoise and bronze glazes and is a whimsical statement of our desire to have a place to call home.

The artist Michael Murphy has had many exhibitions and his work is highly prized. His works are in various private collections as far away as Atlanta, Georgia. He is a founding member of Avenue 9 Gallery Art Guild and he is also an adjunct faculty professor at both Chico State University and Butte College.
