Board members will serve an initial probationary one year term and upon approval of the Board, the remaining 2 years of their tenure and must be a resident of one of the ten counties served by KIXE. Members of the board of directors of KIXE are elected for terms of three years on a rotating basis. This insures the continuity of leadership and experience on the board. Directors are elected from specific geographic areas within the viewing area of KIXE. There can not be more than four board members elected from any one county. KIXE-TV is owned and operated by the Northern California Educational Television Association, Inc., a non-profit organization.
