Special Event
On behalf of KIXE’s Ready To Learn Program, I would like to personally invite the talented young author and your family & friends to come to for a Special Event at the Redding Barnes & Noble Bookstore on May 10th, at 1:00 pm for a celebration for the contestants & winners of this year’s KIXE Reading Rainbow Contest! All of the participants of this year’s contest who took time to write and illustrate their stories will be presented with a certificate, and a free children’s book! Moreover, all of the top winner’s from each grade level will be awarded a special prize and be encouraged to read their stories! We hope to tape the stories and use on the air later for a special!
Also throughout the day, a portion of the proceeds from all purchases made in the store, and coffee shop (except memberships and gift cards) will help benefit our Ready To Learn Program at KIXE. The Ready To Learn Program is a free educational program that is open to children, families, organizations that work with children 0-8. In the past 5 years well over 2500, adults 25,000 children have directly benefited from our program! Last year handed out more than 2,000 children’s books! This year’s Reading Rainbow Contest had nearly 100 entries received! Each of the children will be awarded a certificate and children’s book, on behalf of our program! We hope that besides attending our ceremony, you will have an opportunity to find out more about KIXE’s Ready To Learn and how we serve the community. Once again Congratulations & we hope to see you here!
* At 11:00 their will be a free storytime/presentation for children ages 3-8 and their parents entitled, “A Rainbow of Stories!”
